Project Alpha: kennysia.com VS kenwooi.com
This is probably an ancient story, but in case you don’t know, I used to get comments from readers relating me to a famous Malaysian blogger – Kenny Sia. Not now, but USED TO. Perhaps it was the way I write my entries – I always include humourous stuff with my writings and pictures.
Well, I got both nice and bad ones. Some said I’ll be the next Kenny Sia and some said I’m a Kenny Sia reinvent. Oh wait, I’m not saying that I agree with those statements but those are just feedback that I’ve received. You too might not agree. Nevertheless, they’re very flattering. Thanks.
On the other hand, I’ve received disapproving statements such as “Kenny Sia imitator!” and “Kenny Sia wannabe!”. Even worse “Rot in hell!” and “You’re fukking ugly”. I don’t know what made them feel offended but criticisms are inevitable, right? =)
But hey, IF you think my blogging style is more or less like his, it doesn’t mean I wanna be him okay?
I must admit that I’m a follower of Kenny’s blog. I visit his blog frequently because it’s interesting. Also, his writing style inspires me. I started reading his blog even before I started mine.
Anyway in this entry, I’m just gonna point out a few differences between a famous Malaysian blogger – Kenny Sia and the noob unknown blogger – Ken Wooi.
Kenny VS Ken: Round 1 – The look.
The picture above says it all. Kenny is handsome, Ken is not handsome (or fukking ugly – as mentioned by some anonymous cowards).
Kenny VS Ken: Round 2 – Google Search.
If you type the word “kennysia” on Google’s search bar, you’ll see this…
Basically everything is related to Kenny Sia, his blog and other stuffs. Google knows him too well.
But if you type “kenwooi” on Google, this is what you get…
What?! KENWOOD???
Google doesn’t even recognize me! Zzz…
Kenny VS Ken: Round 3 – The blog.
kennysia.com is blue and white and it generates up to 14, 000 unique visitors a day.
kenwooi.com is totally orange and it generates about 200 unique visitors a day. So pathetic if compared to kennysia.com right?
Kenny VS Ken: Round 4 – The popularity.
So many people love Kenny – that they proudly announce that they’re stalking Kenny.
Ken on the other hand…
Yeah, I-Don’t-Read Blogs. Awe-some.
Besides, Kenny Sia is so popular that he’s now being treated like a celebrity. Almost everyone will go crazy when they see him. Even I hope to meet him one day too!
Ken, on the other hand, is probably known by a few people only.
Also he is not a party person. Ken used to stay in his hostel room reading his JAVA books. What a noob.
Okay I lied – I don’t read JAVA books always. But the thing is, I don’t go out to parties and flash my ‘bush’ to everyone.
Just like what Kenny did during the Nuffnang and Tiger StandOut Party. He’s daring and hilarious. That’s why it’s impossible for me to wanna-be like him. If I do, I’d probably flashed my ‘bush’ too. But I won’t.
Kenny VS Ken: Round 5 – The sponsors & advertorials.
I’m gonna say this – kennysia.com is frequently publishing entries with advertisements. Therefore he’s earning a lot. Also, Kenny has sponsors paying for his trips to other countries. What a lucky guy.
He even got to act in an advertisement!
So far, kenwooi.com has only one advertisement – which is the McDonald’s “Have You McValue Lunch-ed This Week?” entry. And no, Ken wasn’t paid a single cent. Instead, he paid McDonald’s for all the 4 McValue Lunch meals!
Kenny VS Ken: Round 6 – The bird.
As mentioned earlier by Kenny himself, he claims that he has a big bird.
Well, unfortunately for Ken, he has a tiny bird.
And a very shy one too. See it’s hiding…
Do you get it now? I where got same with Kenny lah?
He’s a SUPER blogger, I’m just a noob blogger. ;)

Example, there is some new artist name almost similar with “Siti Norhaliza” and guess what?

i am amazed by those people who are worshiping someone who have so many scandals and didn’t blog anything for the community.
honestly, i would rather read Marina Mahaathir’s blog rather than reading Kenny Sia’s blog as I found that Marina Mahathir’s blog is full of kindness as she is blogging more on charity and community stuff.
At least, IT blogs of any informational blogs would also be a good place to read.
But I do not understand why, people just like to read paid advertisement articles and senseless jokes rather than reading something informational.
it is ok to read some jokes once a while, but I find it irritating as those people worship someone which do not deserve to be threat as “GOD” at all. in fact, the “GOD” they worship, the word should be read reversely.

Dear Ken,
For what it’s worth, I think you’re 110% better than Kenny Sia. These days, I don’t really blog hop and leave comments cuz work and life is really being a bitch to me. It is just sad, cuz I really would like to have more time to myself to do things that I like… :( Anyway, get into your thick head that YOU ARE better than Kenny Sia. Cuz:
1. I think you genuinely care for your readers. You may not visit us readers often, but every now and then, you leave us a comment in return of our visits to let us know that you do care about what we write…
2. You are humble, and somehow, I find your jokes are tastefully done than Kenny Sia’s. I could puke at his jokes. They are sometimes disgusting and downright insulting.
3. I don’t fancy horny bastards like Kenny Sia-call me childish or anything you like, but I absolutely hate sexual innuendos and the way Kenny Sia disrespect women in general. He practically makes me wanna show my middle finger, and I would if I could.
4. Your blog is worth reading. But Kenny Sia is not.
5. If I were to meet up with you, I’ll feel like I’ll be meeting up with a friend with no bad intentions in mind. But if I were to meet up with Kenny Sia, I would feel cheapened- like some whore… cuz he generally treats women like that. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks like me, and some women simply loves being used like a whore.
I could make this list goes on and on, but by the end of the day, it all comes back to this- I would prefer a geeky noob who is humble any day than a boastful person like Kenny Sia.
I am wondering my Jason Lo didn’t ask Kenny Sia about his scandals during the interview at Latte@8 last time…

i am totally agree with u,
when a person start blogging, he/she never thought of fame.
but when the blog grow, unique visits grows, then the person will start to hope for popularity.
it is alright, but hunger for fame until like Kenny Sia is too over and stupid already.
Thats y I only like bloggers who are famous because of the way they write, and with genuine and useful contents. it doesn’t matter if the contents have not so much information, but at least write with sincere.

Very true, Ken Wooi actually takes the trouble to comment in his readers’ blogs. Wonder how he managed to find out about my blog when I started mine. That’s obviously one thing Kenny Sia never does and never will. Kenny-boy won’t be reading this so I shall just continue writing bcos he’s now busy with his new gym in Kuching…..
The Personal Touch by Kenny Sia was never there in the first place. No proper PR. You have to take the trouble to travel all the way to where Kenny Sia is hosting a big show (and planning his next bush-flashing act), push your way through a HUGE crowd of screaming girls and then Personally Touch him, only to be pushed away again by other screaming girls. Of course, I’d never waste my time doing this.
Also, Kenny thinks he’s SOOOO friggin’ popular he tells everyone that his Facebook is for his own people only and he won’t add strangers- unlike other mega-tycoons in Malaysia who actually take the trouble to add strangers and “make friends” with the local people to find out what they’re like…
Ken Wooi, however, sits in his room reading JAVA (learning something useful), practically acts like the unlikely hero, shares about his shortcomings in life (no pun intended), and comments in other people’s blogs, which is what most big-time politicians do in real life when it comes to “meeting the general public”…
So there we go… the difference between Kenwood and that Kuching-bloke-with-a-big-bird…

the reason kennysia is famous is because he started way early and you are pretty much later. Nowadays when almost everyone has a blog, it’s hard to gain popularity and retain readers as there’re just too much blogs to read. Just b’cos you r not famous now doesn’t mean you won’t be.
and guess what? i was away for 2 weeks without the internet and i made the effort to visit your blog. i didn’t even visit kennysia’s. :) haha.
