The Library at AEON Station 18 Ipoh

The Library at AEON Station 18 Ipoh

Over the weekend, I visited the most talked about new shopping mall in Ipoh – AEON Station 18, which some refer to as the new Jusco in Ipoh.

It was quite far off from town as it requires a long drive along Jalan Pasir Puteh to reach the mall.

After about 30 minutes drive plus the usual traffic on the narrow road, I finally lay my eyes on AEON Station 18.

First impression, wow – so huge! Almost as huge as One Utama, I think.

It was the first weekend since its opening and eventually visitors flock the shopping mall. The car park was pretty crowded with cars as well.

Finally found a parking spot and immediately proceed into the shopping mall.

First impression, lots of people and it’s so new! Duh!

But still, it has been long since Ipoh had a new shopping mall. We’ve been stuck with malls such as Ipoh Parade and Kinta City for almost a decade already, if not more.

Being inside this new shopping mall for the first time, I was afraid that I’d get lost.

But after moving around for a bit, the layout is pretty simple. It’s like a rectangular pathway along each floor.

AEON Station 18 seems different than the usual Ipoh malls – it’s somehow like a KL shopping mall because there are various brands and outlets that we normally don’t find in Ipoh.

Well, this one is interesting…

A mannequin with Superman shirt and underwear, with chain strapped around it? Looks kinky.

Well, many say that AEON Station 18 is one of the biggest malls around, with 5 storeys all together.

But as I explored the shopping mall, I realized something – it isn’t exactly a 5 storeys shopping mall.

To be exact, the shopping mall only covers just 2.5 storeys of the overall building – Ground Floor, 1st Floor and half of 2nd Floor.

The other 2.5 storeys are… yes, you got it… car park areas! Meh, not that huge after all.

Anyway, while walking around the shopping mall, I can’t help but to notice this…

You mean THE Library?

Finally… THE Library is here in Ipoh? Woots?

As I followed the signs pointing towards THE Library, I had a slight feeling of excitement. Oh yeah, Ipoh people can finally enjoy themselves at THE Library!

So I kept walking towards its direction, hoping to find myself a good place to have a good time. ;)

After searching high and low, I finally reached the last turning.

So I turned into the last corner and…

THE Library? Uhh… what?

Surely doesn’t look like the ones in KL woh!

Nevertheless, I entered the library.

So… this is how THE Library looks like in Ipoh. With… blue sky, rainbow and butterflies painted on the wall. Chairs and tables are available to chill out.

This is the table where you drink with your buddies.

Perhaps a game of chess as well?

And there is the bartender…

Probably the most un-happening bartender, coz no one is crowding over the bar counter.

Hmm… Ipoh, why are you still so innocent ah?

  3. Hey Ken, I didnt know they have a library or The Library as it is called.. never been to the KL one too, so nothing to compare.. hahaa… Last Saturday I went but not really finished walking all the stores yet.. must go one more time! :)

  4. LOL! I’m sure Ipoh got a library, I mean a real library, no? If not, so sad la. But this is a good beginning. Ipoh also is so wan malasia one ah. :-D

  5. AEON mall looks good but the library just looks…sad.

Why would they put a community library in a shopping mall?

I haven’t been here but I’ll be going to Ipoh and Melaka soon so I’ll check it out. Cheers! :)

  6. HAHHAHAAHAHHAAH….. No offence but Ipoh Shopping complexes are hopeless. By 8.45pm – 9.20pm, there will be very little people and the sales person looks like wanna shoo you away. It’s really different here in KL, that even at 9pm u still have the feeling to go to mall for a walk.

    1. you think your KL shopping centre so great ah? i see most of the time they are filled with foreign workers especially Indonesians and Bangladeshis. Plus most of the sales persons can only speak malay, cant speak english. ipoh shopping centre sales person speak reasonable english and chinese..

      1. The creme’ in KL are at corporate leader. The creme’ of Ipoh working in shopping malls. Simple as that.

  7. Ehhh, moy.
Not 2.5 storeys but 3.5 actually. Only a bit is parking then you have to get to the top floor. The other 1.0 floor is the TGV Cinema Station 18. Big cinema though with 8 or 10 (Im not sure) and it is also with digital 3D Screen. Library eh? Can count the books there also leh. I saw the Jusco’s size is one of the biggest in Malaysia after AEON Bukit Tinggi,Klang (193sl) and AEON Bukit Indah, Johor (176sl) This one has only 168sl and Kinta City only has 100/-sl.
