Krabi was our first destination during the Phuket-Krabi trip. We had no idea which hotel to stay at Ao Nang initially.
Fortunately, a voucher on LivingSocial grabbed our attention and it was for a 3D2N stay at Aonang Cliff Beach Resort, a 4-star boutique resort located at the heart of Ao Nang.
Quick Review: Aonang Cliff Beach Resort is a pleasant place to stay at Ao Nang – the staffs are friendly and helpful, and the service is excellent.
Frankly, as a traveler who focuses on value, I wouldn’t have picked this hotel if it wasn’t because of the voucher. A quick look-up on the official website indicates that a room costs as low as THB4,500 (RM462.60) a night!
WHAT?! That’s super expensive!
Thankfully, the voucher value we had to pay costs only THB2,228 (RM229) for a night – which is about half the actual price. Pretty good deal, right?
Well, it may still come off as rather costly, but like I’ve said – value first! ;)
Travel Tip: For those interested in staying at Aonang Cliff Beach Resort, it’s located on the prime street of Ao Nang along with various eateries, massage parlours, tour agents, and restaurants. McDonald’s and Starbucks are the key landmarks. Attarak: Let’s Sea, Let’s Relax is located across the road.
There is a view of a cliff right in front of the hotel. Now it’s quite obvious where the hotel’s name came about.
Upon arriving at Ao Nang via the ferry from Phuket, the hotel arranged for a complimentary pick-up from Nopparat Thara Pier, as stated on the voucher.
It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to reach Aonang Cliff Beach Resort from the jetty, and according to the hotel, a tuk-tuk ride will cost about THB100 (RM10.28) one way.
We were greeted with welcome drinks and fragrant cold towels upon arrival at the hotel lobby. It was very refreshing since the weather was scorching hot.
After the check-in at 2pm, we proceeded to the room.
This is a Superior Room and it’s located at the front building, facing the main road. It includes a private balcony, TV with DVD player (you can borrow DVDs from the front desk), and other common room amenities.
Additionally, the hotel also provides beach bag, beach mat and sandals to be worn at the beach or whenever we’re out.
The more important facility is access to free WiFi throughout the hotel.
I mean… how can one stay in a hotel without WiFi nowadays, right? It’s definitely a MUST whenever we travel aboard so that we can keep in touch with our family and friends by posting wonderful photos to make them jealous.
Oh wait, that’s not me. *points at someone else*
Anyway, there is a swimming pool at the hotel too. I think it’s necessary for hotels at Krabi, or even Phuket, to have a swimming pool.
As the weather is typically hot and humid, a dip in the pool is always rejuvenating and refreshing. After the Krabi 4 Islands Tour, I went for a swim before heading back to the room. ;)
Besides that, there is an in-house restaurant that serves mainly breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Since breakfast is complimentary, we walloped as much food as we could every morning. I mean, it’s paid for after all, right?
The breakfast buffet is just average and the choices are rather limited – there are not much Thai food as majority are western cuisine. Perhaps it’s to cater to the ang mohs and their preferred choice of food.
I’m not an ang moh but I ain’t complaining. ;)
Other than that, there’s a place called Infinity Spa that offers massage services. I went for the Traditional Thai massage as I wanted to relax and “let loose”.
The overall massage was good, but I didn’t manage to capture any photos during the session as it was dark and the masseuse is always on top of me.
We created this mess after it ended. Wonderful experience!
Besides the in-house massage provided by the hotel, we also went to Attarak: Let’s Sea, Let’s Relax, which is located directly across the road from the hotel.
Anyway, it was a really pleasant stay at Ao Nang – the staffs were friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent.
Oh yeah, we always look forward to ending the tiring day at their comfortable room. :)
