Phuket was our second destination during the Phuket-Krabi trip. Where else to stay at if not the most happening place in Phuket – Patong!
Patong is located on Phuket’s west coast, and we stayed at Seven Seas Hotel.
Quick Review: Seven Seas Hotel provides a simple and pleasant stay at Patong Beach. It is well maintained and definitely value-for-money! Staffs are friendly and can converse well in English.
Seven Seas Hotel is a small budget hotel located on the quiet north end of Patong Beach. It’s about 5 minutes walk to the center of Thawewong Road, the main road along the beach.
As this is a budget hotel, it costs THB800 (82.24) a night but a longer stay will be eligible for a slight discount. Since we stayed for 3 nights, our room rate was THB720 (RM74) a night.
Travel Tip: For those interested in staying at Seven Seas Hotel or looking for a hotel to stay, hotels can be searched via sawadee.com, a portal listing all available hotels in Thailand.
The only expectation I have from a “budget” hotel is to at least have a clean and conducive room. Surprisingly, it actually exceeded my expectation.
Firstly, the hotel is very well maintained and it looks really presentable and welcoming. In fact, it’s definitely value-for-money!
We arrived at Seven Seas Hotel late in the evening after departing from Krabi in the afternoon. Upon reaching Rassada Pier at Phuket, we were transported to Patong and then dropped-off at Seven Seas.
The hotel is run by a small group of staffs, they are friendly and can converse well in English. They even offered us a personal 1-Day Phuket City Tour for THB1,000 (RM102.80) but we didn’t take it up.
The room is simple yet sufficient for staying. It has basic amenities and nothing else extra, such as classy bathroom and hairdryer. Other than that, they provide complimentary beach towels too.
Even the fridge would have been completely empty if it wasn’t for the 2 drinking water bottles.
Well, good enough, right? If you need something to munch or drink, just head to the nearby 7-Eleven or Family Mart. They have plenty of mini-marts around that area.
Here’s the view from our room at Level 3.
The swimming pool is rather small but it’s a great place to chill given the hot weather. It also comes with a mini jacuzzi.
I didn’t think of dipping myself in the pool initially. But after returning from the Phi Phi Islands Tour, I eventually succumbed to the pool. Man… it’s so refreshing!
Patong Beach is popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, and it’s located just about 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
The beach may be popular, but it seems like an ordinary beach. In fact, the beaches at the islands are more appealing than Patong Beach.
Anyway, Seven Seas Hotel provides airport transfer to Phuket International Airport with a minimum fee of THB700 (RM71.96). Surcharge applies for early morning or late night transfers.
The rate charged by Seven Seas is relatively cheaper than the taxi vendors along the street. I was quoted THB1,000 (RM102.80) by a random taxi vendor.
Overall, it was a simple and pleasant stay at Seven Seas Hotel.
So if you’re looking for an affordable place to stay at Patong Phuket, Seven Seas Hotel would be a good option. It isn’t as luxurious as Aonang Cliff Beach Resort, but it’s suitable for those who are looking for great value-for-money accommodation. :)
