Ipoh Delicacy: Nam Heong Old Town White Cafe
I used to wonder – what is so nice about food blogs? There are so many food blogs around and it’s amusing that bloggers would spend time taking pictures before, during and after eating.
I told myself that I’ll never do that – since it’s kinda awkward?
But today I’m breaking the awkwardness by promoting the food in Ipoh. As mentioned earlier, I didn’t talk much about my hometown but it’s time for me to do so.
I’ll start with a famous kopitiam (aka coffee shop) located at Ipoh’s old town – Nam Heong Old Town White Cafe.

Nam Heong Old Town White Cafe
People usually have quick lunch or tea break here. Getting a parking space is kinda hard and getting a table at Nam Heong is hard too. The most important factor you must possess while looking for food in Ipoh is patience.
White coffee
Nam Heong’s white coffee is famous in Ipoh – due to its unique flavour.
The taste of the food is good and the portion is reasonable with the price.
Char Kuey Teow
Chee Cheong Fun – with mushroom gravy
There are more variety of food here but I didn’t take extra orders.
On the same road itself, there’s another kopitiam called Kedai Kopi CT where you can have red bean soup for dessert.
Kedai Kopi CT
Kinda concentrated in my opinion, if you order without ice. Addition of ice should make it more diluted and obviously colder.
Red bean soup
It’s not hard to find this place in Ipoh town. There’s a landmark which can be easily spotted once you reach the town area.
The landmark is a 20-storey flat – Kinta Height Flat. Both Nam Heong and CT coffee shops are located just around it.
Kinta Height Flat
If you wanna know more of the location, just Google Map or Wiki Map. It’s easy.
P/S: In case you find my “promotion” not convincing – I don’t usually give exaggerating comments like “Waseh sibei ho chiak ar!” or “Walao veliiiii deliiiicious ar!“.
Or “Wahh abso-fukking-lutely best!“. -.-
Perhaps I’m already used to the food in Ipoh and I find them very very normal.
Anyway, it’s worth a try when you’re in Ipoh! Stay tuned from more Ipoh Delicacy entries. =)

Ahhh…Ipoh food. My recent trip was fruitful too as I manage to "catch" most of the good food.. "Shu Kuek Tai" liu and Ngao Choi Kai.. U must not missed too :) Yea, agree that Nam Heong or Kong Heng's white coffee still seems to be best, but I havent been there for time.. thinking of my next Ipoh trip already now! :P
Keng Huei on 23 June, 2009 at 5:20 PMTo be honest, I also don't know how people can take such nice photos when they are eating! I have a DSLR too but I always fail to do that because I would concentrate on food instead!
I might be going for a road trip with my friend soon so i might consider stopping by! thank you for recommending!
And omg..it's only your 100th post and look at how your blog has flared! *envy*

shadowmoon on 24 June, 2009 at 12:19 AMAnyway, interesting post though I agree with your initial awkwardness since I wouldn't go to a restaurant with a camera just to take pictures of the food to post in a blog. :P
Hell, I don't feel fine even taking a camera to the kitchen here at home!
The food look good

Nabil on 25 June, 2009 at 9:07 AMHi Ken,
I'm technoraX.
I've started a new tech blog. I have a idea of forming a blogger group and exchanging links between us. But, it seems to be difficult. But, I have a new idea. I can't type all here. so, please have a look in my page. The post about "free backlinks for your site" is in my home page.
have a look at that post..thanks..have a nice day
technoraX on 25 June, 2009 at 12:05 PMkenwooi,
No, it's not my point. You don't have to put those images. Just copy the text links in the list there..copy and paste.. and post them in a post. like this
http://Yourname.blogspot.com/increase-your-backlinks-here.html<—–this could be anything..
then you always update that list..many will be added to my list in my blog and they will update the list also.
for example look at this Rethnaraj V2's post..Yes it is my site also. but, i mean for example..
Rethnaraj v2 example
Of course you just put those images if you want..but not neccessary. just for spreading about it…
like that i will update the list in my both blogs…
hope you understand..it's a free backlink for your site…

The food looks good! But I hate to find parking and rush with others to get a table : )
foongpc on 27 June, 2009 at 9:04 AMThe Nam Heong is my favourite kopitiam in Ipoh. The white coffee is like the best. Great food and great coffee..miss that place. Definitely beats the old town that's spawning everywhere like mushrooms in the klang valley. Quality not quantity.

I just tried the coffee and food at Nam Heong a couple of weeks ago when I was in Ipoh.. it was the first time we managed to get seats there though I went Ipoh many times! What a hot spot! I enjoyed the coffee and the dim sum, especially the egg tarts! :D
BTW, the coffee shop opps Nam Heong is equally good too, like their custards!
